Sounding Out: Bristol

Sounding Out: Bristol
Soundwalk: Thursday 6 October, 17:45. £5/3. Booking advised as places strictly limited
"A soundwalk is any excursion whose main purpose is listening to the environment. It is exposing our ears to every sound around us no matter where we are.” Hildegard Westerkamp, from the article "Soundwalking"
Join us for a soundwalk around the centre of Bristol. This silent listening walk will be followed by a group discussion about what we’ve heard and the aural characteristics of Bristol. Nat Roberton and Peter Insole of the City Design Group will discuss the role that sound could play in a forthcoming characterisation study for the city.
Sounding Out: Bristol is aimed at people interested in sound and listening in an urban context.
Details of future events in this series will be available at www.architecturecentre.co.uk.
Sounding Out: Bristol was born out of the Architecture Centre’s involvement in Ways of Hearing, a national programme of research and knowledge exchange focused on listening in 2011.
